Heather Shapiro is a creative problem solver, joke teller, story cracker, brand wizard, shrewd with character development, quick-witted dialogue, and clever taglines. She’s worked as a writer, director, story producer, creative director, and editor. Some clients include BIC, Contigo, Barbie, MTV, Hasbro, MGAE Toys, HBOMax, Disney+, Hulu, Lionsgate, Netflix, and Funny or Die, to name a few.
This year, she created several spots for BIC, Contigo, and the hilarious “Background Noise is History” for Cyber Acoustics. She story produced for the Emmy-nominated Wizard of Paws (NatGeo) and De La Calle (MTV, Paramount+), which screened at Tribeca. Her digital series El Kimberley Proyect is streaming on Funny or Die. She is in production for the feature Lonesome Town, co-directing with Preston Lane Jeter. Her feature script, Earl’s Gotta Die, was a second-rounder at Sundance Development Labs.
Heather likes to make dark comedies about big issues told in small snatches of time. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and the Harold Ramis Film School at Chicago’s Second City. She is in the advanced level at Groundlings.
She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their dog Luna.
